TTA Collaborates with Qualcomm Innovation Center

Qualcomm Incorporated opened the Qualcomm Innovation Center, Taiwan in Taipei in March 2020 to support the development of Taiwan’s startup ecosystem. The Center is used as the base for Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan Challenge (QITC). Through establishing exclusive laboratories, the Center provides an environment for the QITC 2020 shortlisted startup teams to enhance their products’ competitiveness through new product development, measurement and debugging.
To deepen the interaction with Taiwan’s innovative ecosystem, the Qualcomm Innovation Center, Taiwan has granted access to TTA Member starting on June 29th, 2020. Registered and approved TTA members are able to utilize the laboratory’s equipment for testing devices that are powered by Qualcomm’s chips.
Qualcomm has been a dedicated Taiwan startup ecosystem enabler, as the semiconductor company has launched the Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan Challenge (QITC) for 2 consecutive years since 2019 in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) and Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA). The Challenge offers the 10 shortlisted startup companies with a 6-month incubation and a cash award of USD10,000, and after the incubation, the winner and two runner ups will be selected by a jury of industry leaders and receive cash awards of USD125,000, USD100,000 or USD75,000 respectively.
By working with TTA, the Challenge provides mentorships in making proactive business models and building global expansion strategies, which would bridge Taiwanese innovators to the world and provide a stage for the world to understand the R&D capabilities and innovative energy in Taiwan.
By providing access to the Qualcomm Innovation Center, Taiwan to TTA Members, the collaboration will facilitate more exchanges of innovations in which members of the startup community can contribute their expertise. Together, TTA and Qualcomm will better support Taiwan startups to enter global markets and even take lead in the 5G era, boosting the overall startup ecosystem momentum in Taiwan.

高通致力支持台灣新創，於109年3月正式啟用「高通台灣創新中心（Qualcomm Innovation Center, Taiwan）」，作為「高通台灣創新競賽（Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan Challenge, QITC）」基地，設置專屬實驗室，提供QITC 2020入圍團隊新創產品開發、量測及除錯的環境，協助入圍團隊提升產品競爭力。
為深化與台灣新創生態圈互動，自今（109）年6月29起，「高通台灣創新中心」實驗室開放TTA會員使用，針對經報名、核准之TTA會員得使用該實驗室的儀器對使用高通晶片之裝置進行測試。
TTA與高通長期合作致力台灣新創發展，108年起，在科技部指導下， 共同推動兩屆QITC，入圍前10名可獲1萬美元的獎金，經過6個月的育成計畫後，獲選決賽前三名者也將分別獲得12萬5,000美元、10萬美元、及7萬5,000美元不等的獎金。
TTA與高通合作提供獲選團隊業務諮詢指導與進入全球市場的最佳策略，使台灣產業與新創圈更緊密地整合，讓更多優秀的台灣新創有機會與國際專業加速器接觸，也讓國際社會更了解台灣新創的潛力。
高通希望透過「高通台灣創新中心」實驗室開放TTA會員使用，進一步強化與TTA合作，以及產業資源與經驗的分享，加速台灣新創鏈結國際，掌握5G時代先機，在尖端科技創新研發競爭益形激烈的情形下，導入更多國際專業資源協助台灣新創迎接嶄新的時代、加速提升台灣新創競爭力。
